Welcome to my Google Site! This site provides an overview of my background, credentials, and professional experiences. Family and Consumer Science has played an important role in shaping both my personal and professional journey, and my passion for education made this field a natural path for me to pursue.
Through active involvement in professional organizations and related activities, I have fully immersed myself in the discipline. As Past Chair of the National Student Unit Board of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) and the WKU AAFCS Student Unit, I worked to ensure that Family and Consumer Science students have a strong voice and that their needs are represented. Creating financial opportunities for student members has been especially meaningful to me, and I remain committed to contributing to the profession in ways that support both current students and future professionals.

A proponent of student-centered learning, I believe that students should learn content at a deep, conceptual level in order to be able to apply and transfer what they have learned throughout their lives. In creating such an environment, I hold the following beliefs:
“I believe that effective student-centered teachers include frequent assessment in a variety of forms that are valid and reliable.”
“I believe that effective student-centered teachers facilitate students' development of 21st Century skills.”
“I believe that effective student-centered teachers are credible within their respective certification area in order to implement pedagogical decisions that are rooted in research."
“I believe that effective student-centered teachers create a learning environment where students feel safe to make mistakes, benefit from working with others, focus on mastery, and are held accountable for their learning.”
“I believe that effective student-centered teachers help students develop effective learning habits.”
